Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, there is a small village in Nepal. Its people were hardworking, resilient, and deeply connected to the land that sustained them. Yet, amidst the breathtaking beauty of their surroundings, a silent crisis lurks - a crisis of sanitation.
In this village, much like countless others across the globe, access to basic sanitation services was a luxury, not a given. Over 15% of the population still practice open defecation, forced by circumstance rather than choice. The lack of toilets or latrines is not merely an inconvenience; it can be a matter of life and death.
Children play amidst fields tainted by human waste, unaware of the invisible threats lurking in the soil. Contaminated drinking water led to the spread of diseases, and the toll it will take on young lives is immeasurable.
Yet, amidst the despair, a glimmer of hope emerged. A beacon of light in the form of the Rotary Global Grant that the our Club is pursuing with YOUR HELP!
