The Rotary Club of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus was honored to welcome incoming District Governor Sandi Chard for a thoughtful discussion on one of Rotary's most important priorities: membership.

Rather than focusing solely on growing membership numbers, Sandi challenged us to think about what it takes to build and maintain a healthy, engaged club. The conversation centered on a simple but powerful idea: meet members where they are. Every Rotarian joins for different reasons. Some are drawn to service projects, others to professional networking, leadership opportunities, friendships, or a desire to make a difference in their community.
No matter what brings us through the door, we are united by Rotary's shared values, including the Four-Way Test, Service Above Self, and the meaningful relationships we build while serving others. A thriving club recognizes and celebrates those different motivations while creating opportunities for every member to contribute in ways that are meaningful to them.
Our discussion was a reminder that membership is not just about recruiting new members. It's about creating a welcoming environment where people feel connected, valued, and inspired to stay involved.
If you've ever wondered what Rotary is all about, we'd love to meet you. Join us for a Monday evening meeting and discover how you can connect with others, serve your community, and make a lasting impact.
The Rotary Club of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus meets every Monday at 5:30 p.m. Guests are always welcome. Come see what Service Above Self looks like in action.
